Surprisingly, even in today’s society, we tend to think of lesbians as fitting one of two stereotypes, neither of which is at all representative of the lesbian community. There’s either the ultra-masculine butch who pays little attention to her appearance and generally lacks ambition, or the hyper-sexualized lesbian with the long fake nails who features in the fantasies of many straight men. Where there’s smoke, there’s fire, you say? Maybe so, but in my opinion, these images are outdated.
