Developped by Jo-Anne Lee, Dept.of Women’s Studies, University of Victoria, Photovoice is a research method that you will use to document your lives. The camera will be your tool to capture images that represent meaningful messages that you would like to convey.
The photovoice activity gets participants to think about:
- Where do you feel most yourself?
- Where do you feel least yourself?
- What does belonging mean to you? (Interpret “belonging” however you wish)
- What does non-belonging mean to you?
- What stops you from connecting with other racial minority and/or Indigenous and/or White girls
- What helps you connect to other racial minority and/or Indigenous and/or White girls?
- What are some things that help you reach out to other racial minority, Indigenous and/or White girls?
- Who/ Where do you go to feel good about yourself?
- What does peace, community and solidarity mean to you?
The entire activity is provided on the link above.
