Logistics, Childcare, Selection Process & Fees

The ELLE Project Training is offered in which language?

The ELLE Training is offered in English and French. There is a 'whispered translation' service throughout the duration of the training; alternating from French to English according to the workshops and participants' needs. We appreciate your engagement in using the translation devices to ensure that everyone's voice is heard and valued!

Where is it held?

The training takes place at Jouvence, 1½ hours south of Montreal, in the rolling hills of Quebec’s Eastern Townships. To see photos and for more information, click here.

When is it?

The training is held from October 23rd to 27th 2011.

I would like to participate but...

I  have a child that I would need to bring with me.

We can offer childcare for you and your child. Please indicate on the application form whether or not you will require childcare. We invite you to carefully read our Policy for Children.

I have reduced mobility and I want to know about accessibility.
Jouvence is not fully wheelchair accessible. Please contact us to discuss your particular needs.

I have specific dietary needs.
Where it is possible, we will accommodate your dietary requirements. Please indicate your dietary needs on the application form.

We are able to accommodate:

Specific diets related to health
It is necessary to discuss with us before the event in order to allow enough time to make arrangements.

Vegetarians
Two options are offered at each meal: one with meat, and one without. If pork is served, it will be identified.

Allergies
It is necessary to list your food allergies on the application form so that we can be certain that these are well identified. Nuts, milk products, and other foods will be identified so that they can be avoided.

How do the transport and accommodation fees work?

There are NO fees to participate in the ELLE Project for young women

Your participation includes:

  • Accommodation at Jouvence (towels and bedding are supplied)
  • All meals (delicious, high-quality food)
  • Over twenty different workshops offered by experienced and relevant facilitators
  • Access to resources (zines, manuals, etc.) on site
  • Travel to and from the event site, departing from downtown Montreal

Girls Action will finance the travel and accommodation costs for all ELLE participants.

Selection Process:

As there are only a limited number of places available, Girls Action undertakes a comprehensive selection process for participants*.

In order to ensure a diversity of voices during the events, an advisory committee has been set up to facilitate the selection process.

*Girls Action prioritizes the participation of marginalized persons and persons living and working in isolated communities.

How will I know if I was selected?

Once your application has been chosen you will receive an email. It will contain various documents that you will need to fill-out and return to us byt the stated deadline in order to confirm your participation. The following documents must be submitted to us by the deadline:

  • Participation Agreement
  • Minor Release Form (for participants under 18)
  • Media Release Form
  • Health Form

As soon as we have received all of your documents, we can then proceed with the reservation of transportation (airplanes, trains, etc.) during the month of September 2011.
