National Day of Action 2015
National Day of Action: February 14, 2015
For the 11th consecutive year, girls and young women steered away from typical Valentine’s Day activities, and were invited to create action-oriented projects that raised awareness about issues important to them and their communities.
The National Day of Action is not just about actions, it’s a national movement!
The fact that our actions are part of a broader mobilization is very motivating for the girls involved, and this allows us to talk about solidarity with other girls in Canada who participate in the National Day of Action.”-Participant
More than 40 grassroots actions took place across the country this February, 2015. From Charlottetown (PEI) to the Cree Nation of Wemindji (QC) to Whitehorse (YT), national network members collaborated with girls and young women to highlight issues that are rooted and important to their communities. See the list of this of the 2015 community actions!
Every year, Kickaction.ca hosts a three-week-long blogging carnival. Starting on February 14th, Girls Action’s National Day of Action, bloggers from across Canada shared their experience, their knowledge and their opinions on issues related to young women. Details about the Carnival are available here.
