Youth Leading Action on Community History

Our History, Our Future! Youth Leading Action on Community History!

Through the Youth Take Charge project, Girls Action Foundation is providing young women the opportunity to increase their knowledge of their communities and the history of Canadian women leaders.

Young women, mostly from under-represented groups (immigrant, official language minority, low-income, ethnocultural minority and Aboriginal communities) are participating in youth-led skill-building and mentoring events in various Canadian regions.

After these events, trained young leaders will plan and carry out community history projects and hold events engaging youth across Canada. Their discoveries will be shared with the public through blogs, social media as well as STORIFY, an innovative media tool which will unite online local history videos, photos and articles into a national story.

Girls Action Foundation is also engaging women leaders in business, politics and communities to act as mentors and share their inspiring stories with the young women.
